Thank you very much for your understanding of and cooperation with JAGES (Japan Gerontological Evaluation Study).
JAGES aims to build a scientific foundation for preventive policies toward a healthy and long-lived society. In collaboration with 30 to 76 municipalities nationwide, surveys have been conducted in fiscal years 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019, and 2022. In the most recent 2022 survey, responses were received from approximately 230,000 older adults. With research funding from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology; the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare; the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH); the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science; and the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED), we have been working to meet societal expectations. Together with researchers from more than 60 universities, national research centers, and other institutions across Japan, we are conducting multifaceted research and striving to return our findings to society.
Since the launch of AGES (Aichi Gerontological Evaluation Study) in 1999, we have accumulated more than 20 years of research outcomes. In order to translate these outcomes into social implementation, we established the Japan Agency for Gerontological Evaluation Study (JAGES) , a general incorporated association, in 2018, so that we could undertake collaborative research, training, and consulting with central government ministries, municipalities, and partners from industry, government, and academia. Since its founding, Professor Katsunori Kondo has served as Representative Director, and I have now taken over this role. I am committed to ensuring the sustainable development of JAGES and to contributing to the realization of a healthy, long-lived society and a community-based inclusive society.
We sincerely appreciate your continued understanding of and cooperation with JAGES.
