Matsudo City in Chiba Prefecture, which borders Tokyo andhas a population of approximately 500,000, has been implementing the JAGES MatsudoProject since 2016. This project brings together industry, local government,academia, and the community residents to develop and evaluate an urban modelfor long-term care prevention.

The project promotes community development that encouragessocial participation among older adults by leveraging the rich resources uniqueto urban areas, and it evaluates the effectiveness of these initiatives inpreventing the need for long-term care.
